As for the rest of the convention

I spend about 5 hours or so Friday working on my "Space babe" costume – which of course would have been more apparent what it was, had I had the tinsel wig I wanted. But when you come up with an idea on Thursday night – what do you expect?

I'm bummed I didn't actually take any pictures of the costume….I think peter did. Must email Peter.

I did have some trouble in the back – and with the darts which made my boobs look extra Madonna pointy – but it was my first time ever really making something that was my own design (ie not going by "a" pattern".

The top was a sparkly lavender halter part, with awesome straps…

The middle was a satin purple belt.

The bottom was a silver pvc skirt.

Have I mentioned how much I love PVC?

I was pretty satisfied with how it turned out as I wore it Friday night. It had oodles of mistakes, but it was still an accomplishment for me.

Speaking of Friday night, I guess I didn't get into the con too much. I missed opening ceremonies, although not a big deal. I helped a bit with the misfits room party, worked it for an hour…. And wandered around for a few hours.

Saturday, I got over there fairly earlyish, and sat on an interesting Harry Potter book six discussion in Kruchenkos(sp). Hung out for a bit…oogled over some stuff I wanted in the art auction and couldn't afford.

Then the rest of the day was devoted to the black hole waste of time that was the Masquerade.

On the other hand, regardless of the bullshit, I still had some fun doing it – and I'm glad people enjoyed our "Brokeback Ocean" skit.

Afterwards did parties til 1 or so and went home.

Sunday I came for my panel and left.

I don't know – I guess I just wasn't into the con that much this time.

Maybe it's Nick's influence….

Maybe it's cause I've just been busy with everything else, school, etc.

I do realize that con is not the same experience for me now as it was when I was single.

Single Erica – flirted with everyone – strangers-friends-etc. Got a huge kick and an albeit empty and short lived, nice boost to my self esteem.

Erica who is completely in love with Nick and couldn't even think about another man – (that's me now btw) – I love flirting, talking, etc with the guys who I find harmless/are my friends/etc and I know it's innocent (ie George, Dave, Peter – yep that's about it actually.) – I get very annoyed by men who umm it doesn't feel so innocent; lay it on way too thick, etc. Now that just feels dirty.

I think I will really enjoy Convergence this year.

I need to remember what I have learned in the last year. Both Masquerades have just been a time suck.

Also since I'm doing Hotel 2 and that's going to suck sometime away, I should just try to take it easy – watch the Masquerade, and really enjoy my experience this year. Then next year do Masquerade. Every other year do masquerade – every other year do fun, no responsibility, etc.

Anyway l I might be too busy planning other things *cough*

I still want to make my Jubilee costume and maybe wear that around Sat night.

Still not sure if I should have Nick be Gambit or Cyclops though….
